Manufacturing. A safe start, step by step, with the instructions inside.

6 items · Usually done 06:30–07:30 · Written by Gidlist

Wear safety glasses, gloves and ear protection before you start. If any step fails, stop, do not start the line, and tell the shift supervisor.

  1. 1.

    Lockout tags removed and logged

Check the lockout board: every tag from the last maintenance must be back on its hook, with the name of whoever removed it written in the log.

  2. 2.

    Guards closed, emergency stops tested

    1. Close every guard door — the machine must not start with one open. 2. Press each emergency stop in turn; the panel must show STOP. 3. Reset each one before moving to the next.

    Photo welcome
  3. 3.

    Air pressure at 6 bar

Photograph the gauge so the reading can be seen.

The main gauge is at the air inlet by the control cabinet. Between 5.8 and 6.2 bar is correct. Outside that range, do not start — call maintenance.

  4. 4.

    Lubrication levels checked

Each sight glass must show oil between the MIN and MAX marks. Top up only with the oil named on the tank label.

  5. 5.

First part measured and within tolerance

Run one part, measure it against the drawing with the calibrated gauge, and photograph the part next to the gauge reading. Only then start the batch.

    Photo required
  6. 6.

    Supervisor approval to start

Tick when checked. Add a note if something needs attention.

A starting point: adapt it to your own rules and requirements before use.
